Health And Fitness

I am a firm believer that your body is your temple. Don’t take care of it, and it won’t take care of you!  You have found your way to this site, and in doing so, you have lost all excuses to not take care of your body.  Everything that you need to know will be found on this site, so KEEP READING!
We only get one chance to make our bodies last, so why do we neglect them so much?  I think that their are 2 reasons that are at the root of the problem.

  1. Lack of education
  2. Lack of motivation

While we know that we should try to live healthy lifestyles, many people do not know how.  Some people know that they should be eating healthy and exercising, but really just don’t care.  Whatever your reason, it is time to stop neglecting your body!

There are 2 areas that you need to focus on in order to improve your health and fitness.

  1. Exercise
  2. Nutrition

Let’s start with looking at exercise.

Exercise – The Facts!

Between the hundreds of magazines and TV shows that claim they know everything about fitness, but contradict the other magazines and shows, it is no wonder people are confused about what to do.  I am going to keep this simple and the point.  Here are Joe Malone’s Exercise Words Of Wisdom

  • Excuses, get rid of them!  You get one body, make time to take care of it.
  • Something is better than nothing.  Don’t let not having 30-60 minutes be an excuse not to workout.  Take 10 or 15 minutes to go for a walk, do some pushups or core work, just DO SOMETHING!  If time is your issue, check out 10 Minute Trainer.
  • If someone tells you stretching is pointless, stop asking them about fitness.  Stretching is one of the most under appreciated aspects of fitness, and yet it is one of the most beneficial.  I suggest dynamic stretching before your workout, and static stretching after your workout.  Also, look into Yoga!  The best yoga program that I ever did is actually P90X Yoga
  • If you have any medical conditions, it is always a good idea to see what type of exercise your doctor things you should be doing.  It is great that you want to get in shape, but you do not want to complicate your current condition.

While I do recommend 30-60 minutes a day, that is not something that a lot of people have time for, especially when you factor in the travel time of going to the gym.  I am a certified Physical Education teacher, and an athlete, and I do not even have a gym membership.  I actually workout at home.  It is more convenient, I save time and money, and I actually get better workout than when I was at the gym.  I use P90X, P90X2 and Insanity The Asylum.  See if there is a program for you at Realfitnesswithjoe.com

Nutrition – The Facts

This is a topic that is seriously over complicated.  If you are counting calories, I feel sorry for you.  Simple changes can go a long way, and if you do things right, you can make a huge difference in your health.

  • If you are a big soda drinker, gradually cut back.  Maybe you will never give upo soda all together, but the less of it you drink, the happier your body will be.
  • Stay away from the drive thru (At least if you go in to get the food you will get a little exercise, HA!)  Seriously, fast food is fat food.  I know that it is convenient, but most of it is fried, heavily processed, and artery clogging.  I admit it, I visit McDonalds or Wendy’s once in awhile.  That is not going to kill you.  Eating it multiple time a week, sometimes multiple meals a day, that is going to do some harm.
  • DRINK WATER!
  • 99% if supplements are junk, so BE AWARE of what you are putting into your body.  There is one nutritional product that I recommend to everyone.  Whether you are looking to lose weight, increase energy, or just be healthier, you need to check out SHAKEOLOGY!
  • Whole wheat over white
  • Frozen over canned
  • Fresh is best
